On 4 November 2026, ChatGPT’s pricing page showed a visitor from Egypt the ChatGPT Plus price in Egypt in local currency: EGP 999.99 a month. In my view, what stops people from paying today is not the price. It is how their card is set up at the bank, and which payment route they pick.
This guide is for anyone in Egypt who uses ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Perplexity for work. You want the paid plan on your own account, the official way. You will leave with each plan’s price as shown from Egypt, the official ways to pay, and five questions for your bank.
The common mistake
The card gets declined once. So you find a page selling a “shared Plus account” or a “subscription on your email” that asks for your password. It looks cheaper and faster, but it puts your chats and files in front of a stranger.
The second mistake is smaller: retrying the same card again and again without asking the bank why it was declined.
The big picture: four things decide what you pay
- The price you are shown: some providers show Egyptian pounds to visitors from Egypt, others show US dollars.
- The payment route: a card on the tool’s website, the app store on your phone, or your phone bill inside the store.
- Your bank: whether the card is enabled for international purchases, its monthly limit, and its fees.
- The account: the plan sits on your own account, and nobody else knows your password.
We take each part in turn below.
A comparison from the notary office
Giving a seller your password is like signing a general power of attorney at the notary office so they can renew one licence for you. The document opens everything, and you answer for whatever they do in your name.
The rule: subscribe on your own account, pay in your own name, and keep your password to yourself.
Try it: what will you pay this month?
Pick a plan and a payment route for each tool, and type your bank’s fee if you know it. The month’s total shows in EGP. On the second tab, pick what happened when you tried to pay to see the likely cause.
How much is ChatGPT Plus in Egypt, and what Claude, Gemini and Perplexity cost
From Egypt on 4 November 2026: ChatGPT Go was EGP 220 a month, Plus EGP 999.99, and Pro started at EGP 5,400. Claude and Perplexity show US dollars.
| Tool and plan | Price shown from Egypt | About EGP per month |
|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT Go | EGP 220 | 220 |
| ChatGPT Plus | EGP 999.99 | 999.99 |
| ChatGPT Pro | From EGP 5,400 | From 5,400 |
| Claude Pro | USD 20, or USD 200 a year | 1,108 (or 924 on annual) |
| Claude Max | USD 100 | 5,542 |
| Claude Ultra | USD 200 | 11,084 |
| Google AI Plus | EGP 249.99 | 249.99 |
| Google AI Pro | EGP 939.99 | 939.99 |
| Google AI Ultra | From EGP 2,199.99 | From 2,199.99 |
| Perplexity Pro | USD 20, or the equivalent of USD 17 a month on annual | 1,108 (or 942 on annual) |
I converted dollars at the Central Bank of Egypt sell rate for 3 November 2026: EGP 55.42. That was the latest rate published on the day of writing. Your card is charged at your own bank’s rate and may carry a fee, and Claude says its prices exclude tax.
Perplexity’s plans page currently shows only the annual price; the USD 20 monthly figure comes from the company’s blog, with prices as of October 2026. All of these prices change, so check the amount at checkout before you confirm.
Ways to pay for ChatGPT from Egypt, and the other tools
1. A bank card on the tool’s website
ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity accept credit and debit cards on their websites. OpenAI lists the Egyptian pound among its billing currencies on chatgpt.com and asks you to check the price and currency at checkout before you pay. Perplexity also accepts Google Pay and Apple Pay.
Example: choose Plus on the upgrade page in your account, and make sure checkout shows EGP 999.99 before you continue.
2. Google Play on Android
When you subscribe inside an Android app, Google Play runs the subscription and bills you in your local currency. Google’s payment page for Egypt accepts Visa, Mastercard and American Express. The same page warns that new restrictions on Egypt-issued cards may decline new purchases or subscription renewals.
3. Your phone bill, inside the store
This answers the common search about paying for ChatGPT with Vodafone credit. In Egypt, Google Play takes carrier billing on Vodafone and e&, and the App Store takes Vodafone billing. Google adds that some carriers cannot pay for subscriptions, prepaid numbers may not be supported, and your carrier sets a monthly spending limit.
So the payment screen is the test: if the option shows for the subscription you want, your line can use it. Vodafone Cash is a wallet. On the day of writing it does not appear in the official payment lists of OpenAI, Google Play or the App Store for Egypt.
4. The App Store on iPhone
In Egypt, an Apple Account takes most credit and debit cards, Vodafone billing, and account balance after you add funds. A subscription bought inside the app is run by Apple, and its price shows in your currency on the purchase screen.
5. Google AI from your Google account
Gemini’s paid plans are now called Google AI. You buy them through Google One in Egyptian pounds, and on Android the payment goes through Google Play. Google AI Pro can be shared officially with up to 5 members of your family group.
Why cards get declined, and what to ask your bank
OpenAI’s help page on declined cards starts with the bank: some banks block international or online transactions by default. OpenAI also says it does not receive detailed decline reasons from banks, so calling your bank is the fastest fix.
An error such as “authentication required” or “3D Secure attempt failed” means the verification step did not finish. Complete the code or the approval in your bank app without closing checkout, and turn off pop-up blockers and VPNs.
Before your next attempt, ask your bank these five questions:
- Is this card enabled for international online purchases?
- What is the monthly limit for international purchases on this card?
- Do you allow recurring charges for monthly subscriptions?
- Which phone number receives the verification code, and is it my current one?
- What is the currency fee on a USD charge, and is there a fee on an EGP charge from a merchant outside Egypt?
A worked example: one month for a marketer in Alexandria
The marketer is made up; the prices are those of 4 November 2026. They pay for three plans every month:
| Plan | Payment route | EGP |
|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT Plus | Card on chatgpt.com | 999.99 |
| Claude Pro (monthly) | Card on claude.ai: USD 20 × 55.4209 | 1,108.42 |
| Google AI Plus | Google One | 249.99 |
| Total | EGP 2,358.40 |
That is before your bank’s fees and any tax on Claude. Every 1% of currency fee adds EGP 11.08 to Claude alone. On Claude’s annual plan they would pay USD 200 up front, about EGP 924 a month instead of 1,108.
Why not buy a shared or ready-made account
Whoever holds the login to a shared account can read your chats and files. They can also change the password whenever they like, and you lose what you paid.
If you need several users, the official route is ChatGPT Business, which starts at 2 users, or sharing Google AI Pro with your family.
Worth knowing
Deleting the ChatGPT app from your phone does not cancel your subscription. If you subscribe on Google Play and then on the website before cancelling the first, you pay for two. OpenAI suggests that people who use several devices subscribe on the website, after cancelling the store subscription first.

If no route works: pay in EGP on your own account
My store has a service for people whose card will not go through. The subscription is official, paid to the provider directly, and runs on your own personal account; I am not a reseller for these companies. You pay in Egyptian pounds with the local methods shown at checkout, such as InstaPay and Vodafone Cash.
I activate it within 5 hours at most of the payment being confirmed and the activation details arriving, with no password. You get 30 days to have it replaced or refunded.
Prices for one month: ChatGPT Plus EGP 1,500, Claude Pro EGP 1,500, and Perplexity Pro EGP 1,350. The other plans are in the AI section of the store.
The price is higher than paying directly because it includes the payment and activation service. Activation needs a temporary Session Key from your account, and while it is valid it opens the account the way a login does.
So this is the order I recommend: pay yourself if one of the routes above works, and use the service only when none does. Right after activation, log out of all devices: the key stops working and the subscription stays.
Checklist before you pay
- I read the plan price on the official pricing page today, not in an old post.
- I asked my bank the five questions and know my card’s limit and fees.
- The phone number my bank has is my current one, so the verification code arrives.
- I picked one place to subscribe: the website or the store, not both.
- The plan is on my own account, and I gave my password to no one.
- I put the renewal date in my calendar, because the plan renews until I cancel it.
Your task
Compare today’s price on the tool you use most with the table above. Then ask your bank the five questions before your first attempt. If the payment still fails, share the exact error message in the Evollo community.
